Landscaping Your Yard

How to choose a landscaper. There are many landscape architects available if you do a simple search in a search engine, but which one do you choose? Not all landscapers have the same experience and skill. Follow these steps and you will be on your way to finding the landscape designer that is right for you.

Landscaping your home is no doubt a very big task that often you find it hard to even know how to begin. If you are going to do it all by yourself, you can easily run out of landscape design ideas before you even get started with the actual work. That is why it is often to your benefit to just hire a landscape contractor, at least to help you with thinking of the best approach to landscaping your garden or home.

There is a fairly large gap between what a landscaper can do with your yard and what you can do on your own (unless you have a very green thumb and really enjoy doing the work). The basics of lawn care are just that: the basics. If you’ve ever wanted your property to be something the neighbors look over at with jealousy, however, you’re going to have to go the extra mile. Tree pruning, garden building, and the placement of tasteful decorative elements such as fountains and ponds can make an enormous difference in how your yard is perceived. Take advantage of these options and you will surely be the envy of the neighborhood.

Shrubs can be planted close together to make a natural fence. Your Brick patio Yorkville may do this in areas where you want to keep out foot traffic or make a visible barrier between your property line and that of your neighbor. Often you will see shrubs and bushes lining driveways or walkways as well.

There are two things why this is an important question. One is to know how long it will take the contractor to complete the landscaping project so you will know how much you will be paying him. That is if he is on an hourly basis of payment. Two is for you to prepare your home for the rigorous tasks of landscaping a garden and a greater part of your house.

The most beautiful gardens always have a single theme or element around which all the other components of the garden will be based. Are you planning to have a Japanese style garden or one that has a series of water features? Are you planning to put koi or some other fish as the center of interest of your new garden? Think of a single theme for your garden and build your home landscaping ideas upon it.

Tip D: Payments – Now I can’t tell you what to do…..but ideally pay by invoice & make a payment via your bank or cheque……you won’t be the 1st or the last to suggest a ‘cash’ price for a landscaper….BUT if something does goes wrong you are not in a great position to do anything about it as effectively you are tax avoiding (namely VAT). Similarly be warned of landscapers to ask if they can be paid in cash….it’s not a good sign in my opinion. If all things are done ‘above board’ then you are in a much better position to get help in the unlikely occasion that the work has not gone according to plan.
